Hey Chanhassen! The 10th anniversary of Prince's passing is coming up on April 21st — and this week we're taking a closer look at the most famous address in town. We're also hoping to bring you a big update on Old St. Hubert Church before the end of the month. Here's what's chanhappenin'.
St. Hubert Church
We reached out to the Chanhassen Historical Society this week for an update on Old St. Hubert Church — and while there's no news to share just yet, Jackson tells us a significant update on their plan is expected before the end of April.
We'll be here when it drops.
If you're just catching up on this story, it's one every Chanhassen resident should know about — Old St. Hubert Church is the last original building in downtown Chanhassen and is currently facing demolition. Read the full story here.

Paisley Park — The Most Famous Address in Chanhassen
Chanhassen is home to a lot of things people don't expect. But nothing surprises out-of-towners quite like learning that one of the most famous addresses in music history is tucked into a quiet corner of a Minneapolis suburb.
Paisley Park served as Prince's home, creative sanctuary, and production complex for nearly 30 years. Some of the biggest names in music recorded here — Madonna, Stevie Wonder, the Bee Gees — drawn to a studio that Prince built so he could create on his own terms, away from the noise of Los Angeles and New York.
After Prince passed away on April 21, 2016, Paisley Park opened to the public as a museum. Today it's an active venue where fans from around the world come to walk the same soundstage where Prince rehearsed, see his concert wardrobes and motorcycles up close, and stand in the studios where Prince made music history for three decades.
This April 21st marks ten years since his passing. If you've never been inside — it's right in your backyard.
And if you're a fan, mark your calendar — the Prince Estate is hosting a five-day 10th Anniversary Celebration of Life from June 3–7 across Paisley Park, Minneapolis, and St. Paul. More on that in a future issue. Details and tickets here.

This one's from yours truly.
I was standing in the card aisle at Lunds & Byerlys last week, struggling to pick out a birthday card for my wife. I struck up a conversation with the woman shopping next to me and she helped me pick out a card that wasn’t overly sappy or “funny.” Something small but memorable.

1897 — The Chanhassen Village Council decided that Village Marshal George Schlenk would light the village oil lamps for an extra dollar a month, bringing his total monthly salary to $5.25. The same meeting produced an ordinance prohibiting the hitching of horses to the lamp posts.
1898 — The Village Council voted to build a jail — cost not to exceed $500 — and a Village Hall, to be designed and built by local contractor John Geiser.
